Autumn Winds

I can’t find any jumpers,
How come I’ve lost them all?
And where are all the heavy coats
We hang up in the hall?

The rain has started falling,
The temperature has dropped,
My sunflowers are drooping and,
The barbecues have stopped.

Summer has departed,
The leaves are turning brown,
It’s time to put the heating on,
And pull the shutters down.

The summer shorts are packed away,
At least until next Spring,
As festive logs and fireworks
And pumpkins are the thing.

Autumn blows in winds of change,
Whilst darkness steals the day
So hang the lights, and start the fires,
For Winter’s on its way.
